Redesigning the Complete Employee Lifecycle Experience in an Enterprise HRMS
UX/UI Team Lead case study focused on onboarding, daily HR operations, and exit workflows.
I led the redesign of a multi-module HRMS platform to improve employee self-service, reduce HR operational load, and create consistent experiences across the entire employee lifecycle.
VISION
From Joining to Exit — One Connected System
The platform handled onboarding, attendance, leave, payroll inputs, approvals, asset tracking, and exit clearance.
However, workflows were fragmented, repetitive, and difficult for both employees and HR teams to manage efficiently.
My goal was to transform disconnected modules into a continuous, role-based experience that supported employees, HR managers, and IT teams throughout the full lifecycle.

Onboarding & Profile Setup
Faster, Guided Employee Onboarding
OPTIMIZED EMPLOYEE ONBOARDING
80%
Profile Completion Rate on Day One
15 Min
Average Time to Complete Onboarding Tasks
I redesigned the employee onboarding experience to guide new hires through profile creation, document submission, and policy acknowledgements in a clear, step-by-step flow. The process reduced confusion, eliminated repeated HR follow-ups, and ensured employees completed mandatory tasks independently from their first login.
The onboarding flow was structured to adapt based on employee type, role, and company policies, creating a consistent yet flexible experience across organizations.

ATTENDANCE & LEAVE MANAGEMENT
STREAMLINED DAILY HR ACTIONS
60%
Reduction in Attendance Correction Requests
2 Clicks
To Apply and Track Leave Requests
I redesigned attendance regularization and leave application flows to minimize steps and improve clarity around approval status. Employees could submit requests quickly, while managers received clear, actionable approval views without navigating multiple screens.
The updated system reduced repetitive corrections and improved transparency by showing real-time request status, policy limits, and manager feedback directly within the workflow.
EXIT & CLEARANCE PROCESS
CONTROLLED & COMPLIANT EMPLOYEE EXITS
75%
Faster Exit Clearance Completion
Zero
Manual Follow-ups for Asset & Approval Validation
I redesigned the exit workflow to automatically validate asset returns, pending approvals, and policy requirements before allowing final clearance. This ensured compliance while reducing dependency on manual HR and IT coordination.
The system guided employees, managers, and IT teams through their respective tasks, preventing delays caused by missing actions and improving accountability across departments.

DESIGN & LEADERSHIP PROCESS
Designing Enterprise Workflows, Not Just Screens
I approached the redesign as a system problem rather than isolated feature improvements, focusing on workflow continuity and operational clarity.
Process Steps
-
Operational Research
Conducted discussions with HR executives, recruiters, IT admins, and employees to understand bottlenecks across the lifecycle. -
Journey Mapping
Created complete employee journeys from offer acceptance to exit clearance, identifying friction points and duplicated actions. -
UX Architecture Redesign
Reorganized navigation and module grouping to reflect real-world HR processes rather than internal system structure. -
Design System & UI Standards
Built reusable components for forms, approvals, alerts, tables, and dashboards to maintain consistency. -
Team Leadership & Reviews
Guided designers, conducted UX critiques, and ensured flows aligned with business rules before development. -
Engineering Collaboration
Worked closely with developers to validate logic, edge cases, and responsive behavior.
